The last week, 20th May to 26th May 2024, was quite a happening time in the world of cricket. From two interesting T20 bilateral series to the playoffs of the largest cricket league, Indian Premier League, cricket fans enjoyed quite a lot. A summary of important matches conducted in the last week is given below.
Pakistan Vs England T20 Series
The 4-match T20 series between Pakistan and England started on 22nd May 2024. However, to the disappointment of the cricket fans, the 1st match was abandoned without a single ball bowled owing to heavy rains. The second match took place on 25th May which was featured by the comeback of English lethal paver, Jofra Archer. England won the 2nd encounter by 23 runs and established a lead in the series by 1-0.
West Indies Vs South Africa T20 Series
The first match of this 3-match bilateral series took place on 24th May, 2024. The West Indian team heavily dominated the African team and proceeded to white wash the Proteas in this series. The first encounter between the 2 teams was won by the Caribbean team by 28 runs. The second match was also won by the West Indian team by 16 runs. The third clash was perhaps the most thrilling and exciting encounter as the West Indian team completed their target of 164 runs in only 13.5 overs and established a commanding victory over the Proteas by 8 wickets.
Indian Premier League Play-Offs 2024
The first playoff was played between SRH and KKR on Tuesday, 21st May. KKR demolished the Hyderabadi bowling lineup by accomplishing a win by 8 wickets and securing a spot in the finals of IPL 2024. On Wednesday, the other 2 teams, RCB and RR clashed. The Rajasthani team won the exciting encounter by 4 wickets, eliminating RCB from the tournament.
The 3rd playoff between SRH and RR was played on Friday, 24th May 2024. SRH won this encounter comprehensively by 36 runs and qualified for the summit clash of this global tournament. The grand finale of IPL 2024 was played on Sunday, 26th May. KKR’s outstanding bowling lineup limited SRH to an easy target of 113. KKR snatched the champions title by achieving this target in the 11th over. Kolkata Knight Riders were crowned as IPL Champions for a third time.
