The last week featured a few very interesting games of cricket, especially test cricket. Fans were able to see famous players from India, Pakistan, New Zealand, and England in action and were immensely entertained by a few incredible individual performances. A quick summary of the last week’s highlights is provided below:
Pak Vs Eng 2024- 2nd Test
The second test encounter of the 3-match series between Pakistan and England was held from 15-18th October 2024. Pakistan’s squad featured numerous changes. These included the replacement of famous players, namely Babar Azam, Shaheen Shah Afridi, and Naseem Shah by Kamran Ghulam, Nouman Ali, and Sajjad Khan.
It is safe to say that these changes worked out in Pakistan’s favor as the men in green won this test by a whopping 152 run margin. All 20 wickets were shared between the two spinners, 11 for Nouman Ali, and 9 for Sajjad Khan. Kamran Ghulam and Ben Dukket also made headlines for their outstanding centuries.
Ind Vs NZ 2024 – 1st Test
As a part of the World Test Championship, India and New Zealand are set to participate in a series of 3 test matches. The 1st test match is being held in Bengaluru and unfortunately the 1st day of this match was washed away by rain. However following this, the Indian batting line-up experienced one of their worst collapses as the whole team was bowled out at just 46 runs. Only 2 out of 11 players managed to score in double figures, with the highest scorer being Rishabh Pant for his 20 runs.
Rachin Ravindra and Devon Conway helped the Kiwi team smash a 400 plus score in their 1st batting innings. Ravindra smashed his debut test century and contributed very important runs to his team’s total. The Indian team started their second batting innings with a trail of more than 350 runs. However, rain has once again spoiled the sport and the 4th day will likely be washed away as well.
Sri Vs WI 2024 – T20Is
Sri Lanka won the T20I series against West Indies by 2-1 margin. The Asalanka-led team were incredible in both batting and bowling departments and defeated their Caribbean opponents in the second and third game. The Sri Lankan opening duo made headlines as Pathum Nissanka took home the Player of the Series award as Kusal Mendis was named the man of the match. Following the T20I series, the two opposing teams are set to participate in a series of ODI games in the next week.
Women T20 World Cup 2024
