What a phenomenal week it was for test cricket last week. Big nations like England, Pakistan, India, New Zealand, Bangladesh, and South Africa competing against each other to elevate their position in the World Test Championship 2023- 2025. A brief summary of the major highlights of cricket happenings in the last week is provided below.

Pak Vs Eng 2024

The last test match of the 3-match test series between Pakistan and England came to an early end on Day 3. Pakistan won this encounter by 9 wickets and also snatched the series win title. Sajjad Khan and Nouman Ali, the classy Pakistani duo were again responsible for this epic win for the home side. The duo was responsible for 19 wickets in this match, 10 for Sajjad and 9 for Nouman. The English team was only able to give a target of 36 runs to the hosts and the skipper, Shan Masood smashed a few boundaries and hits to achieve this target.

Saud Shakeel was named the Man of the Match for his crucial contributions with bat as he smashed a century (134 runs off 223 deliveries) and Sajjad Khan was named as the player for the series award for his incredible performance with ball as well as bat. 

Ind Vs NZ 2024

New Zealand has won the 2nd test match against India by a whopping 113 runs. This victory has also propelled the Kiwi team towards a series win in the Indian soil, a feat that they have achieved after a long time period. Mitchell Santner was the main man responsible for this epic win as he took home 13 crucial wickets, responsible for the downfall of the Indian batting line-up. The Indian fans have expressed their disappointment at this loss and are hoping that their team can at least secure one win in this series and prevent a white-wash.

ICC Women T20 World Cup

South Africa and New Zealand competed in the final of the ninth edition of Women T20 World Cup 2024. The kiwi team won the toss and opted to bat first and put together a whopping target of 158 runs. In response, the South African ladies were only able to score 126 runs for 9 wickets. The Kiwi all-rounder, Amelia Kerr was named the woman of the match and the player of the series as well for her outstanding performances throughout the course of this global cup. Amelia scored 43 crucial runs and also took 3 important wickets. 

SA Vs Ban 2024

South Africa has won the 1st test of the series against Bangladesh by 7 wickets. An interesting game of cricket was seen with few incredible individual performances. These included Kyle Verreynne, Mehidy Hassan Miraz, Taijul Islam, and Kagiso Rabada. The second test will be played from 29th October and fans are excited to see who will win this encounter and climb up the ladder of the World Test Championship.
