Weekly Roundup: Sri Lanka takes On The Indian Challenge in a thrilling T20I and ODI series

The previous week was an absolute treat for the cricket fans as few thrilling and exciting matches were livestreamed. These matches featured India competing against Sri Lanka in a series of 3 T20Is and 3 ODIs. Moreover, things have been spicing up in the Pakistani camp as PCB appointed Waqar Younis to select the future skipper for the talented Pakistani cricket team. India Vs Sri Lanka T20 Series

The Indian team led by Suryakumar Yadav participated in a series of three T20 matches from 27th July till 30th July. The Indian bowling line-up crushed the Sri Lankan batsmen as the middle order collapse became the primary reason for Sri Lanka’s defeat in the 1st two matches. The third match, however, proved to be quite entertaining and thrilling as the Sri Lankan batsmen leveled the score of 137 runs in 20 overs.

Things took an exciting turn when a super over was decided by the umpires to decide the fate of the match. However, the Lankan batsmen failed to put together a hefty target and were only able to score 2 runs with 2 dismissals in row. The skipper, Suryakumar Yadav smashed a boundary and achieved the target in a single delivery. This sealed a white-wash for Sri Lanka as the newly appointed Indian skipper, Suryakumar took home a 3-0 victory.

PCB decides to Appoint Waqar Younis as Director of Cricket

The former Pakistani pacer, Waqar Younis is expected to be promoted from his ‘advisor’ position to ‘director of cricket’. This new promotion will make Waqar the primary decider for the new captain of Pakistani cricket team. Waqar is to select a new Pakistani skipper after teh Pakistan vs Bangladesh test series, later in the month. Babar Azam, Shan Masood, and Saud Shakeel are in the race for the new captain.

India Vs Sri Lanka ODI series

The first ODI between the two nations was held on 2nd August and was a draw between the two nations. Hasarnaga took home three wickets and the Sri Lankan bowling line-up truly challenged the Indian middle and top order. Dunith Wellalage was awarded with Man of the Match title for his 2 wickets and 67* runs.

The 2nd ODI was held on 4th August and it proved to be a truly thrilling and exciting treat for cricket fans. Sri Lanka comprehensively defeated India by 32 runs and took a lead in this 3-match series. Jeffery Vandersay showcased his magical bowling performance and took home 6 wickets, earning him the Man of the Match award.
