Install the Smartcric app on your Android TV
The TV app isn't in the Play Store, so it arrives through a small helper app and a six-digit code, using nothing but the remote. Allow about three minutes. This works on Android TV and Google TV devices: Sony, TCL, Hisense, Philips, Xiaomi boxes, Chromecast with Google TV, the Google TV Streamer and similar.
Install Simple Downloader from the Play Store
On the TV, open the Play Store and search for Simple Downloader. Several apps have similar names; the right one has a purple icon and is normally first in the results. Install it and open it.
Enter the code
Simple Downloader shows a long bar at the top. Select it, type 112233 with the remote and press the arrow next to the bar.
A file called smartcrictv.apk starts downloading. It is about 43 MB and takes around fifteen seconds.
Allow the install
When the download finishes the TV shows a message that Simple Downloader is not allowed to install unknown apps. That is the normal first-time message, not a fault.
Select Settings on the message. In the list that opens, find Simple Downloader and turn its switch on so it reads Allowed. Press back: the installation continues by itself. Press Install when the TV asks.

Smartcric now sits in the apps row on the TV's home screen; you may need to scroll the row to the right. Open it and pick a match, the same as on the website. You can uninstall Simple Downloader afterwards if you like.
Fire TV, Samsung, LG and other TVs
Fire TV Stick: there is no Smartcric app for Fire TV yet. Open the Fire TV browser (Silk), go to smartcric.is and pick a match; it plays in the browser.
Samsung and LG smart TVs: these only install apps from their own stores. Use the TV's web browser with smartcric.is, or cast the match from your phone with the phone's screen-mirroring feature.
If it doesn't work
"App not installed". The TV is usually out of space. Uninstall an app you don't use, then delete the file inside Simple Downloader and download it again with the code.
The code brings up search results instead of a download. The code only works in the bar at the very top of Simple Downloader, the purple one; other downloader apps treat it as a search. Check it is six digits with no spaces.
The download stops at 0%. Check the TV's internet connection, then press the arrow again.
